By using ToolShelf you accept the terms below. They are short because the site is simple: it is a set of free calculators that run in your browser, with no accounts and no payments.

Using the site

ToolShelf is free to use, for personal or commercial purposes, without registering. You can use the results in your own work. You don’t need permission, and there is nothing to attribute.

Results come with no warranty

The tools are built carefully and their calculation logic is covered by tests, but they are provided as they are, with no warranty of any kind. No guarantee is made that a result is accurate, complete, or suitable for your situation.

Check anything that carries financial, legal, religious or health consequences against another source before you act on it. The disclaimer goes into what that means in practice for particular tools.

Not professional advice

Nothing on ToolShelf is financial, tax, legal, medical or religious advice, and using a tool creates no professional relationship of any kind. A calculator applies arithmetic to the numbers you give it; it cannot weigh your circumstances, and it does not know when your situation is the unusual one.

Acceptable use

Please don’t:

• attempt to disrupt the site, or access parts of the infrastructure you have not been given access to
• scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for other people, or republish it wholesale as your own
• use it for anything unlawful

Availability

ToolShelf is offered without any uptime commitment. Tools may be changed, corrected or removed, and the site may be unavailable at times. Where a tool’s method is corrected, the change applies going forward. Results you calculated previously are not revisited, because they were never stored.

Content and code

The text, design and code of ToolShelf belong to its author. The underlying mathematics does not and could not, because a percentage is nobody’s property. You are welcome to use results, quote a page with a link, and describe how a calculation works. Copying pages wholesale to republish elsewhere is not permitted.

Links to other sites

ToolShelf sometimes links elsewhere. Those sites are not under its control, and linking to one is not an endorsement of it.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. The date at the top of the page shows when they last changed substantively, and continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the revised version.
