Missed fasting tracker

Record how many fasts you owe, log them off as you make them up, and see how many are left. Everything stays in your browser.

Fasts you owe

Set the number, then log them off as you make them up.

Add another year

If a second Ramadan has passed with fasts still outstanding, add them to the count rather than replacing it.

Still to make up

0

of 0 recorded

Nothing recorded yet. Enter how many fasts you owe to start counting.

Whether a missed fast is made up, or replaced by fidyah, depends on why it was missed and on circumstances this tool knows nothing about. It counts; it does not advise.

Your counts are saved in this browser and will be here when you come back. They are not sent anywhere.

What this keeps track of

Two numbers: how many fasts you owe, and how many you have made up. Everything else on the page is worked out from those, so the summary cannot drift away from the counts above it.

Adding a second year

If another Ramadan has gone by with fasts still outstanding, use the add buttons rather than typing over the total, they add to the count instead of replacing it, so a part-finished tally is not lost.

Making corrections

Logging a fast made up is capped at the number owed, so the tracker cannot show a negative. Lowering the owed figure will not push your progress past complete either, and raising it again brings your earlier progress back.

What this tool does not decide

Whether a missed fast must be made up, replaced by fidyah, or treated some other way depends on why it was missed, illness expected to pass, a permanent condition, pregnancy, travel, and scholars differ on parts of it. None of that is something a counter can work out. Ask someone qualified, and use this to keep the count once you know what you owe.

Questions

Are my counts saved?
Yes, in this browser. They survive closing the tab and restarting the device, and nothing is sent anywhere. They stay on the device you entered them on rather than following you between devices.
Why can I not log more made up than I owe?
Because a tracker showing minus three fasts outstanding is reporting nonsense. If you have made up more than you first recorded, raise the owed figure and the extra will count.
What if I lower the owed count after logging some?
The figures are clamped, so lowering it cannot push your progress past complete. Nothing is deleted, raise it again and your earlier progress is still there.
Should I make the fast up or pay fidyah?
That depends on why the fast was missed and on circumstances a calculator cannot see, illness that is expected to pass is treated differently from a permanent condition, and scholars differ on some cases. Ask someone qualified. If fidyah applies, the fidyah calculator works out the amount.
Do the fasts have to be consecutive?
Make-up fasts for Ramadan are generally not required to be consecutive, though that is a question worth confirming with someone qualified for your situation. Kaffarah, which is a different matter entirely, does involve a consecutive requirement, the kaffarah calculator covers that.
